Southeast Super Trucks Headlines

By:  Gerald E Harris Photo by:  Keith H. Anderson On Saturday, June 6th, the Southeast Super Trucks finally kicked off their 2020 season at Anderson Motor Speedway. Everyone made their way down to the Upstate of South Carolina. Sixteen of the best Super Truck drivers unloaded and not a frown was seen. The competition was a star studded field of drivers, three returning champions Clint King (2019), Kenneth Headen (2012, 2013, & 2018), and Lee Tissot (2015, 2016, & 2017). Charlie Watson who was multiple wins at Hickory Motor Speedway, BJ Mackey who has competed in several series through out the years. Tim Lollis, Ralph Carnes, Clark Houston, Ed Surrett were just a few drivers who have won over the years in the series. Not to mention the several young guys and gals who have been tough to beat and improved a lot over the years. The series hosted two early morning practice sessions before the day officially started. As the car count has been on the rise, the competition has increased tremendously as well. The drivers had a long off season, however the first race of the season they all made their way down to Anderson Motor Speedway on June 6th. Several rookies were making their first starts this year Marvin Miller (never competed in stock car racing), DJ Canipe (a graduate from the INEX Legends) just to name a few. Taylor Nesbitt made her return to the series after taking a few years off to compete at other tracks. In the first afternoon practice, it was Justin Southerlin from right down the road in Liberty, SC who set the fastest time. Andrew Cordell, Taylor Nesbitt, Chris Phipps, and Josh Goble rounded out the top five. The difference from first to fifth was just a couple tenths. As they went into the final practi...
